Janaza of Mustafa Chy held
The Namaj-e-janaza of former Public Service Commission (PSC) Chairman Prof Dr Mustafa Chowdhury was held on Saturday at the central mosque of the Dhaka University after Zohr prayer. A large number of people, including teachers, civil society members and senior government official attended the Namaj-e-janaza of Prof Dr Mustafa Chowdhury. Former Adviser of the caretaker government Barrister Mainul Hosein, incumbent PSC Chairman Ekram Ahmed, former Vice-Chancellor of the Jahangirnagar University Prof Anwar Hossain, former University Grants Commission Chairman Prof M Nazrul Islam and former ACC Chairman Golam Rahman took part in the janaza, among others. Prof Chowdhury, who passed away in Toronto, Canada Sept 12 at the age of 74, was the ninth chairman of the PSC. He served the PSC as Chairman from March 25, 1998 to 23 January, 2002. He left behind his wife, two sons, one daughter and a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn his death. Born in Feni district on January 24, 1940, Prof Mustafa obtained BA (Honours) and MA degrees from Dhaka University. After serving Rajshahi Government College and Chittagong Govt College in the Sixties, he joined the Department of Political Science in Dhaka University in 1966. He retired from the University in 2006.
