Taposh takes office as DSCC Mayor

Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh has taken the charge after three and half months of being elected the mayor.
Awami League leaders and DSCC officials greeted Taposh with flowers as he entered the Nagar Bhaban around 12:30 pm.
Later, DSCC chief executive officer Shah Md Imdadul Huq handed over the charge to Taposh as incumbent Mayor Sayeed Khokon was not present there.
Taposh enquired the officials about the overall situation of the city corporation.
A source at the DSCC said former mayor Sayeed Khokon signed all the necessary documents at his home and sent them to Nagar Bhaban.
A brief description of each branch of the DSCC has been given to Taposh.
Though the newly-elected mayors and councillors of two Dhaka city corporation were sworn in on February 26, they had to wait until completion of the tenures of incumbent mayors and councillors.
Taposh who contested the DSCC election with Awami League’s ticket defeated BNP mayoral runner Eng Ishraque Hossain on February 1 election.
