AL, BNP mayoral aspirants submit nomination papers

Awami League-backed Rezaul Karim Chowdhury and BNP supported Dr Shahadat Hossain submitted their nomination papers to the Returning Officer on Thursday to contest in the Chittagong City Corportion (CCC) polls for mayor posts.
After submitting his nomination,

Rezaul addressing the media said that he would implement the ongoing development projects after being elected mayor.
“Chittagong will be made an environment friendly and healthy city. Concerted efforts would be executed in cooperation with the concerned experts. I will try my level best to meet people’s expectations,” said Rezaul, Joint General Secretary of Awami League’s Chittagong city unit.
Awami League Chittagong city unit President Mahtab Uddin Chowdhury, Secretary and incumbent CCC Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin and other senior leaders of the party accompanied Rezaul Karim while submitting the nomination paper.
He expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina.
Referring to the allegations raised by BNP about level playing field, Rezaul ruled out the criticism and said that BNP is in the habit of making allegation and criticism.
Meanwhile, when Dr Shahadat Hossain was submitting his nomination paper to the Returning Officer, senior BNP leader Jafrul Islam Chowdhury, BNP Central Organizing Secretary Mahbuber Rahman Shamim, BNP Chittagong city Vice President Abu Sufian and Secretary Abul Hashem Bakkar accompanied him.
Amid tight security at Chittagong Election Office, the councillor candidates from different wards of the city also submitted their nomination papers on the same day.
There are 41 general and 14 reserved wards in the city.
