SCBA election March 11, 12

The two-day annual election of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) for its 14 executive posts, including its President and Secretary, will be held on March 11 and 12.

As per the schedule, candidates may file their nomination papers from February 19, 2020, to March 1, 2020.
A candidate may withdraw his/her candidateship by March 4 and the final list of candidates would be issued on the same day. Election will be held on March 11 and 12.
Vote casting will take place from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm with a one-hour lunch break on the election days.
A seven-member Election Sub-Committee has been formed headed by advocate AY Mashiuzzaman, former Secretary of the SCBA, to conduct the election.
A total of 7581 lawyers have registered their names as voters for the SCBA annual election, said Nimesh Chanda, Superintendent of the Supreme Court Bar Association.
SCBA sources said, the main contest of the election will take place between Pro-Awami League lawyers’ forum Sammilita Ainjibi Samannay Parishad (SASP) and pro-BNP lawyers’ platform Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Forum (JAF).
The new executive committee will lead the SCBA for the session of 2020-2021.
