FAO Country Representative calls on DU VC

The Country Representative of Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) of United Nations Robert D Simpson called on Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Md. Akhtaruzzaman Thursday at the latter’s office of the university.
During the meeting they discussed about the progress of upcoming 4-day long international conference on “Climate Change and Food Security in South Asia” to be held on 18-21 next month in a city hotel marking the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Honorable President Md. Abdul Hamid will inaugurate this conference as chief guest.
Robert D Simpson apprised DU VC Prof Dr Md. Akhtaruzzaman of FAO’s involvement to conduct and hold this international conference successfully in cooperation with DU and others concerned. Prof Akhtaruzzaman said, preparatory activities of this conference are going on smoothly. Any suggestion from FAO will be accepted to improve and make this gala event a grand success, DU VC added.
DU VC Prof Dr Md. Akhtaruzzaman thanked Robert D. Simpson for his visit to and cooperation with DU regarding ensuing international conference on “Climate Change and Food Security in South Asia”.
It may be mentioned that about 200 scientists from home and aboard are expected to participate at this international conference.
