A day workshop titled ‘Basic Journalism Training and Workshop ‘ was held at Jagannath University(JnU) on Saturday .
Jagannath University Journalists’ Association (JnUJA) hosted the training at the university central auditorium. JnU Vice-chancellor Prof Dr Mijanur Rahman was present as chief guest at the program.
He said, every year many journalists are being attacked which is one of the major hinders for press freedom. He urged journalists to verify news at least for two times before publishing it. He also urged all to uphold the dignity of the university and requested all to practice ethics of journalism every step in journalism sector.
Among others, treasurer Prof Dr Kamaluddin Ahmed, Proctor Mustofa Kamal, JnUTA general secretary Prof Dr Shamima Begum, Prof Dr Jakaria Mia President of JnU Nil Dal, Prof Nur Muhammad, Chairman of Psychology department addressed at the training program.
JnUJA President presided over the program while Ibrahim Bin Mamun, Assistant Professor of the university’s Mass Communication and Journalism Department, Abu Sufian of Channel-I online, Fahim Rahman of Ekattor TV, Mohiuddin Ahmed of GTV, Sabrina Hossain of Unilever Bangladesh Ltd, Akhlakus Safa of Jamuna Television, Barek Kaiser, Lecturer of University of Development Alternative instructed the participants at the program. Campus based music bands namely Moner Manus and Travellers performed there.
A total of 345 participants including the campus correspondents of different online and print media took part at the training program.
The workshop was concluded through a certificate distribution ceremony.
