DIU to host int’l confce on postcolonial perspectives

The Department of English of Daffodil International University (DIU) is going to organize an international conference titled as Postcolonial Perspectives: Language, Literature and Culture and the Global South at its Dhanmondi campus on 14-15 this month.
Prof Bill Ashcroft, Professor Emeritus of the University of New South Wales, Australia and Prof Fakrul Alam, UGC Professor of the University of Dhaka, will present two keynote speeches at the conference. , Prof Himadri Lahiri from Netaji Subhas Open University, Kolkata, India will also join the conference as a plenary speaker.
Many leading academics in the field of English from Bangladesh include, among others, Notable Bangladeshi academics Prof AMM Hamidur Rahman, Prof Niaz Zaman and Prof Kaiser Haq will also attend the conference as plenary speakers, session chairs and panel discussants. First Security Islami Bank Ltd is the associate partner of the conference.
In addition to the above mentioned sessions, two vibrant panel discussions will be staged by the leading experts in the field of English language and literature where the discussants will share their experience and insights with each-other as well as with the audience.
All these were informed in a Meet the Press held on Tuesday at the 71 Milonayoton of the university. The meet the press was addressed by Prof Dr Yousuf M Islam, Vice Chancellor, Prof Dr SM Maabubul Haque Majumder, Pro Vice Chancellor, Prof AMM Hamidur Rahman, Dean, Faculty of Humanities and Social Science, Prof Dr Engr AKM Fazlul Hoque, Registrar, Md. Rakibul Hasan Khan, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of English of DIU and convener of the conference.
