Govt to construct 486 FF complexes, JS told

Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Hoque told the parliament that the government would construct 486 Freedom Fighters (FFs) complexes across the country.
“The government has already constructed 28 FF complexes at district and upazila levels,” he told the house on Thursday while replying to a question of treasury bench member M Shamsul Haque Tuku.
The minister said the government has undertaken a project to construct FF complexes at district level and completed construction work of 18 complexes out of 64, while 422 FF complexes would be constructed at upazila level with Taka 1,078 crore.
Besides, the government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has increased FF allowance to Taka 5,000 from Taka 900 per month and the number of beneficiaries would be increased to Taka 200,000 from Taka 100,000, he informed the House.
Mozammel said the government has also undertaken a project to construct housing complexes for landless and insolvent freedom fighters with Taka 277.97 crore.
“The project is commitment made by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for the welfare of the freedom fighters to ensure housing facility for 2,971 freedom fighters/families,” he said.
Meanwhile, the government completed construction of 215 housing facilities, while 686 housing projects are underway, he said adding that a 15-storied residential cum commercial complex with two basement facilities has been constructed for martyredand injured freedom fighters at Gajnabi road at Mohammadpur.
