Fouzderhat-Baizid by-pass road ready for open to traffic movement

DT-Baizid connecting road to resume traffic movement after 22 years Chattogram Bureau The ever long cherished Dhaka Truck road -Baizid connecting road is expected to resume traffic movement by this year . Project Director of the DT-Baizid road Engr. Rajib Das told that , the construction works of this road connecting from Fouzderhat with Baizid point passing through hill based land began in 1997 .
The estimated cost of the CR was Tk.40 crores but the project was stopped on midway due unknown reasons. After formulating a new amended project for the connecting road in 2016,the works completed in two phases and it is expected that the total works will be completed by June next. He further said the traffic movement will take place by middle of the current year. Deputy commissioner(Traffic) of CMP mentioned that opening of DT-Baizid road is a happy news for the transport sector and the traffic congestion on GEC and Solashahar points will be eased at maximum extents. CMP official also said heavy transports will easily reach in Baizid Industrial areas from Fouzderhat through this new road without any congestions on Dhaka Trunck Road .
On the other hand, heavy transports and covered bound for Kalurghat industrial estate will ply directly from Fouzderhat through this connecting road which will ease the traffic congestions within the city major roads. This four kilometers long hill locked road has been implemented at a cost of Tk.320croes,project Director told.
Chattogram Development Authority (CPA) implemented this road duly amended the core project in 2016. Mentionable that Asian University for Women is situated in the areas of Baizid thana and hence the original infrastructure of the road was changed with amendment due to location of the Asian Women University. Executive Engineer of CDA and Project Director Rajib Das said the two lane roads were turned into four lane after amendment of the project .He said no major work except one bridge is pending and hoped that the bridge works will be complement by end of June this year.
The project Director further told that the Rangamati, Bandarban, Khagrachari and Cox’s Bazar bound trucks on way from Dhaka will go through this connecting road from Fouzderhat point without entering the city congested roads.3 including
