Anonymous Six Years
“Aparajeyo Bangla”, “Sangsoptak”, “Sabas Bangladesh”, “Durbar Bangla”, “Bijoy 71”, “Chetna 71” — these sculptures are mixed of Bangladesh’s history, heritage, language movement, freedom struggle and liberation consciousness of heroic Bengali. These sculptural names are reflective of an independent Bangladesh.
The sculptures found on the campus of different universities are spreading the light of Liberation War among the students. The sculptures that bear witness to the historical events are creating a war among the youths and getting to know and recognize the country.
One of the most famous public universities in coastal is the Noakhali University of Science and Technology (NSTU).
But sadly, the fact is that almost 6 years of the age of the inauguration has passed but the sculpture has not yet got a name. The university administration has no time to shake its head in this sculpture set to spread the spirit of the War of Liberation among the university students. On December 7, the then Vice-Chancellor Prof Saidul Haque inaugurated the sculpture standing in front of the university’s administrative building. Although the VC suggested fixing the name at the inauguration, it did not work anymore.
At the inauguration, the sculpture was temporarily named ‘Freedom Sculpture’. The sculpture still stands on that temporary name.
Various malls, including the general students of the university, have long been demanding to name the sculpture. But the university administration is saying that it will be, but for some unknown reason, it is not seeing the light.
The administration hopes to honor its tradition by naming it quickly. I believe this sculpture will be branding this university.

Stand For Them, Who’re Unprivileged
Winter has come with lot of pleasures and sorrows not only for the rich people but also the poor people. Summer and winter come by turn like sorrows and happiness. I think, Summer season means is full of bliss and pleasures for the poor people. On the other hand, Winter season means is full sorrows for the poor people. In winter season, those who are unprivileged, they cannot sleep well due to lack of warm places. Moreover, they have to sleep outsides like footpath and railway station. In particular they have not enough money for not only having meals but also buying warm clothes.
During the summer season, unprivileged people can easily sleep on the roads or footpath but during the winter season, they cannot sleep on the roads or footpaths for biting cold. Even they cannot go out for earning money. So it is very frustrating situation for them. For want of warm clothes, their life becomes miserable. They lit up the fire with straw and bask under the open sky to save the children and old people from suffering. However, many people even die from the terrible cold every year. They have no other way but to say prayers to God to save them from biting cold.
As human beings, we should stand besides the poor and unprivileged people who are suffering from lack of warm clothes and blanket in this winter. It is not possible for one person to make any positive change to them but it is possible when we will work within a group. If we work for the sake of human beings, after death God will regard us. Thus, we are living such a country where many students have set up organizations in their areas for the sake of unprivileged people to make them feel happy.
Government should also come forward to protect homeless people from the biting cold.
