Dr. Forqan Uddin Ahmed :
Bangladesh Ansar started its journey from the founding year 1948. The Ansar Hockey team was formed by the founding director of the force, Mr. James Buchanan. Later in 1982, with the earnest efforts of the then Director General of Ansar, Major General (retd) Wajhi Ullah, the journey of the sport began with a new horizon. New teams were formed in conjunction with national and international sports. Training is given to athletes throughout the year under the supervision of officers, skilled coaches and trainers for regular practice in various places of the country, including Ansar & VDP Academy. From the beginning, the players of this force participated in various competitions, dominated the field, and reached the pinnacle of success.
According to the event, players are physically and mentally competent through training and made qualified to participate in competitions at national and international levels.
Purpose of sports training stated to achieve the vision and misson of Bangladesh Ansar & VDP and committed to develop the players physically and emotionally through sports training of Ansar & VDP. To develop Ansar & VDP sports members for participating in competitions at national and international levels, contribute to the sports sector by incorporating a plethora of players from different educational institutions and sports educational institutions from the countryside. All players in the team practice sports all the year round players by staying at Ansar VDP Academy. To make the country’s youth manpower interested in sports and finally the last Bangladesh games were held in 2013, Bangladesh Games are held every four years. In that light, Bangladesh Games could be held at the end of 2019 or 2020. All arrangements and preparations are on for this purpose.
The strategies of sports have been stated for providing training to players throughout the year. It needs to develop existing infrastructure and make it suitable for providing training to the promising athletes around the year. To engage and employ the suitable coaches, provide training to enhance the skills of the currently trained coaches through improved courses and recruit more qualified high quality coaches as per relevant events.
The Ansar and VDP men and women’s events are played at 40 events, both national and international. It is known from the National Sports Council that the 9th Bangladesh Games will be held at the end of 2019. Perhaps it may take place in the year 2020. From now on, we have to prepare for the 9th Bangladesh Games. It requires good planning, care, hard work and regular practice. Hopefully, the athletes of Ansar & VDP will be able to sustain our success by overcoming all adversities, obstacles, limitations, weaknesses. Observations show that although the athletes of this force have much less facilities than the athletes of other forces, their success is much greater. The Ansar & VDP players have kept the sports personnel friendly, friendly behavior and love behind the tremendous success of the sport.
Under the direction of Major General Kazi Sharif Kayakobad NDC, PSC, GG, Director General of Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Force Director (Sports and Culture) Md Nurul Hassan Faridi and Sports Officer Raihan Uddin Fakir, it is expected that Ansar and VDP will be playing at the next Bangladesh Games and SA Games in excellence and result oriented.
In order to continue the movement of the force, a sophisticated permanent sports complex, Ansar & VDP Academy, needs to be built with technical facilities for the advanced training. If there are opportunities to practice with modern sports equipment, then it will be possible to build international quality players to earn more medals in national and international competitions.
