Govt hiding Khaleda’s health issue to deny her bail: DAB

Staff Reporter :
Doctors Association of Bangladesh (DAB) has claimed the Awami League government is hiding the issue of BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia’s health to deny her bail.
Secretary General of DAB Dr Abdus Salam said, “The government is keeping the issue of Khaleda Zia’s health hidden, so that the public remains confused and her bail keeps getting denied.”
He said it at a press conference at the Jatiya Press Club on Wednesday
organised by the association on Khaleda Zia’s health condition. DAB Secretary said, “We know Khaleda Zia is very ill; actually, she is slowly becoming disabled.”
“If she does not receive proper treatment now, the disability will become permanent,” Salam said.
He claimed the authorities of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU)- where Khaleda Zia receiving medical check up – are confusing the public by issuing misleading statements at the government’s wishes.
He demanded that if Khaleda Zia is actually in good health, DAB physicians be allowed to check her health condition. “We, from DAB, are demanding to ensure Khaleda Zia receives proper treatment by her personal physicians – before her situation becomes critical or allowed to receive treatment at her preferred hospital in a free environment,” said Salam. The medical society will not remain silent if all these demands are not met, Salam warned.
