‘Reign of murder’ established, says Khaleda
BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia has said that the gruesome killing of Maulana Nurul Islam Faruqui proved that the ‘reign of murder’ had been established in the country. Not only the country’s political leaders and workers, none is safe in the country, she claimed.
The BNP Chief in a statement issued on Thursday expressed her deep shock at the killing of the presenter of a Private TV Channel and leader of Islamic Front. Unidentified miscreants killed him in his own residence at East Rajabazar in the city on Wednesday night.
Strongly protesting and condemning the killing, Khaleda Zia demanded immediate arrest and exemplary punishment to those who were involved in the killing. She prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul of Faruqui and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members.
BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir in a separate statement also protested and condemned the killing of Islamic leader.
Khaleda Zia alleged that the incident of the murder and other terrible incidents are on rise in the country alarmingly because the government has kept its eyes shut. For this reason, the culprits disappear safely after committing offense, she added.
She said that, the poor performance of the government in protecting country’s citizens has been reflected in the brutal killing of Maulana Nurul Islam Faruqui. “The people are not safe under the current illegitimate government. They are passing the days in panic situation due to the extreme deterioration of law and order and increase of murder across the country,” she said.
The BNP Chief observed that the government was sponsoring killers and godfathers in the country in a bid to create panic among the people, as it (government) came to the power illegally and it aimed at sustaining in the power with the support of the terrorists and the godfathers. The people have no any confidence with the government. So, the terrorists and the godfathers are the last hope of the government, she said.
She warned that this government would have to pay a lot once due to the ongoing ‘bloodshed’ and killing across the country.
