Man picked up as uncle left home to avort arrest

A man has allegedly been picked up by Police from his uncle’s house in Khulna as he (uncle) left the country to avert the arrest in several cases.
The detained man has been identified as Minam Ahmed alias Raj, 24, nephew of Monjur Hasan alias Poltu, Central leader of Jatiyatabadi Swechchhasebak Dal (JSD), youth wing of BNP.Monjur also Social Affairs Secretary of BNP’s Khulna District Unit.
Raj has been sent to jail following a court order in Khulna. Police produced him in a Khulna court after filing a case against him with the Terokhada Police Station in Khulna district. Police also tortured Raj during the grilling at custody after picking up him, family members alleged.
“A team of police recently has raided Monjur’s house at Katinga village in Terokhada upazila in Khulna district and could not find Monjur. They picked up Raj and ransacked the house in the name of raid.” they said.
Police have also raided Monjur’s Dhaka and Khulna residences several times and threatened to take legal action against them if failed to provide exact information about Monjur.
Earlier in 2017, Monjur along with his wife and children, left the courts for fear of torture and harassing by the law enforcers. He has also been accused in different cases in Dhaka, Khulna and Gazipur districts.
Terokhada Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Salekuzzaman rejected the allegation of the family members of the Minam Ahmed. Police arrested him following warrant order.
