Hacker held with Tk. 5 lakh in cash

Cyber Security & Crime unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested an youth with Tk five lakh and recovered a cell phone from a hotel in Cumilla on charge of hacking Facebook accounts and blackmailing owners for money.
The youth identified as Mohammad Kawsar Ahmed used to hack Facebook ID through
finishing link. He then threatened users of posting obscene materials and demanded money from them in exchange of access to their accounts.
On behalf of Cyber Security & Crime unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, Nazmul Islam, Additional Deputy Commissioner confirmed the news of detention on Thursday.
Recently, a victim woman filed a case against Kawsar with Mohammadpur Police Station in connection with the incident. Afterwards, investigation revealed hacking stories.
According to police, Kawsar was arrested from a Cumilla hotel with cash Taka 5 lakh, Taka 77,786 in mobile banking wallet and two mobile sets on Wednesday (October 2).
Kawser was produced in the court with a seven-day remand prayer showing him arrested in the Digital Security Act, crime unit said.
