People ready for movement to free Khaleda: Kh Mahbub
Staff Reporter :
BNP Vice-Chairman Advocate Khandaker Mahbub Hossain on Saturday said, thousands of people are waiting to take to streets to free the party chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia from jail.
“If BNP leaders and activists take to streets, thousands of people will join them. They are now waiting for signal for strong movement,” said the BNP leader while addressing a discussion meeting held in the National Press Club to voice for Khaleda Zia’s immediate release from jail. Zia Adarsho Academy organised it.
Khandakar Mahbub asked the party men to start the movement any time without waiting for party’s announcement.
The BNP vice-chairman said, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina breached her oath saying that it will not be easy to bail out Khaleda Zia if Tarique Rahman does anything wrong during her visit to London.
“Prime Minister took oath saying that she would not take any action out of personal grudge or happiness. But when she failed to get any hotel
during her London trip recently, she blamed BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman for this and threatened if Tarique was involved in any unwanted activities, then it will not be easy to get her mother freed from jail.”
“It is clear violation of her oath,” Khandaker Mahbub said.
He said that such a statement of the PM proved that Khaleda Zia is in jail only for the government’s political anger.
He asked the government to free former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia immediately.
Md. Azam Khan, President of the organization, presided over the meeting. BNP leader Habibur Rahman Habib, Quader Gani Chowdhury, Swechchasebok Dal leader Aktaruzzaman Bachchu, among others, were present.
