Role of parents in early childhood learning
In 1952, French psychologist Jean Piaget in his groundbreaking theory on cognitive development in children described how do children develop the intellectual skills to react and interact with their environment. His theory also focused on how children capable of learning at various stages in their development and do these cognitive abilities develop, and in what order.
Piaget showed how children react to their environments. His some observations countered the current thinking of the day. In fact, his theory became the most well-known and influential theory of cognitive development to date.
I think, the child-parent relationship has a major influence on most aspects of child development. Especially, parenting skills and behaviours have a positive impact on children’s self-esteem, school achievement, cognitive development and behaviour.
There is a potential to promote normal developmental trajectories for high-risk children, such as those from low-income backgrounds and those with very premature births. In contrast, unresponsive parenting may jeopardize children’s development, particularly those at higher risk for developmental problems.
I think, the parents should be more cautious about development of their children whether they are normal or high-risk children.
