Daffodil International University (DIU) held its 8th convocation with colorful events on Wednesday at permanent campus of the university, Ashulia, Savar, Dhaka. Delegated by the President Md. Abdul Hamid, Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni, MP presided over the convocation ceremony and conferred the degrees. Prof Abdul Mannan, Chairman, University Grants Commission of Bangladesh was present as the special guest in the convocation.
Dr Pornchai Mongkhonvanit, President, SIAM University, Bangkok, Thailand attended the convocation as the Convocation Speaker. The convocation ceremony was also addressed by Dr Md. Sabur Khan, Board of Trustees and Prof Dr Yousfuf Mahbubul Islam, Vice Chancellor, Prof Dr SM Mahabub Ul Haque Majumder, Pro VC, Professor Ahmed Ismail Mostafa, Dean, FAHS, Prof AMM Hamidur Rahman, Dean, FHSS, Prof Shamsul Alam, Dean, Faculty of Engineering, Prof Doctor Masum Iqbal, Dean, Faculty of Business and Entrepreneurship.
In the 8th Convocation a total number 5631 students was conferred upon graduation and post-graduation degrees and among them 17 best result oriented graduates were awarded ‘Gold Medal’ in different categories.
In her presidential address Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni, MP said that the most valuable wealth of a nation is its educated people. The developed countries of the world are recommending Bangladesh as rapidly developing economic country in Asia. In this successful journey, new graduates will contribute with their own skills. She added.
Dr Moni also said that I am very glad to hear that Daffodil University is a digital university. I have no doubt that Daffodil University is playing a vital role to build the ‘Digital Bangladesh’.
While addressing as the special guest Prof Abdul Mannan said that people of Bangladesh freed the country to fulfill a dream to make the country as hunger free and poor free.
UGC chairman also said that young people are the rudder of a nation. If rudder mistake the way, boat never can reach to the goal. So, you have to be responsible toperform your duty accurately.
Dr Md. Sabur Khan said in his welcome speech that every man has a unique identity. Finger print of each people in the world is different. So, you all are unique. You have to prove your uniqueness in career life also.
Dr. Pornchai Mongkhonvanit said, DIU has successfully prepared you to be here today. And it’s you who will direct the nation, rule the job market and also create job placement for many others by being entrepreneurs.
He said, when I look at you, I see engineers engineering dreams for the humanity to build sustainable tools which will lead smoothly to the next generation. The five faculties with twenty three promising departments prove my vision.
Reminding their responsibility towards your nation, your institutions, our planet, and the whole humanity he urged the graduates to stand by them whenever necessary, working together to achieve agenda 2030 of the United Nations
