EC to Dy Speaker

Leave polls area

Staff Reporter :
Election Commission (EC) has asked Deputy Speaker in Parliament Fazle Rabbi Mia to leave his electoral area as his presence there during Upazila polls is violation of electoral code of conduct. A notification in this regard has been sent to him and also to ruling party MP from Cox’s Bazar-3 constituency Saimum Sarwar Komol.
EC’s Deputy Secretary Atiar Rahman signed the notification and sent to the District and Upazila Election officers.
The EC wrote to Fazle Rabbi Miah that he had
taken part in Upazila Parishad election campaign in his constituency Gaibandha-5 (Fulchari, Saghata), which was clearly violation of electoral code of conduct. As such EC asked him to leave the area by March 16 evening.
Same direction was also issued for Saimum Sarwar Komol. The allegation against him is that he also took part an election campaign for selected candidate in Cox’s Bazar-3 constituency.
