New Zealand clinch Test series 2-0

New Zealand clinched the Test series 2-0 after defeating Bangladesh by an innings and 12 runs in the rain-interrupted second Test on the fifth and final day at Wellington in New Zealand on Tuesday.
Sent into bat first, Bangladesh scored 211 in the first innings on the third day (Sunday).
In reply, New Zealand piled up a mammoth total and declared their first innings making 432 for the loss of six wickets on the fourth day (Monday).
Later, Bangladesh were all out for 209 in the second innings on the fifth day (Tuesday).
Bangladesh resumed their second innings with the over-night score of 80 for the loss of three wickets.
Mohammad Mithun and Soumya Sarkar resumed their second innings with the over-night score of 25 and 12 runs respectively.
Mithun and Soumya added more 32 runs in the fourth wicket stand before Soumya was caught at the first slip by Ross Taylor off Trent Boult when Bangladesh’s total was 112 for the loss of four wickets.
Mithun and Mahmudullah Riyad contributed 30 runs for the fifth wicket partnership before Mithun was caught at the backward square leg by Tim Southee off Neil Wagner when the team’s score was 152 for the loss of five wickets.
Later, Mahmudullah and Mustafizur Rahman built a remarkable partnership. They put on together 33 runs for the eight-wicket stand before Mustafizur Rahman (16) was clean bowled out by Trent Boult when Bangladesh’s total was 203 for the loss of eight wickets.
Mahmudullah hit a captain’s knock of 67. He hit 12 fours and a sixer in his 69-ball innings before he was caught by Boult off Wagner when the tourists’ score was 209 for the loss of nine wickets. Mahmudullah reached his 16th Test half-century using 49 balls with 11 fours.
Mithun knocked a patient 47. His 105-ball innings was belted with seven fours.
Soumya added 28 runs to the Bangladesh’s total.
Neil Wagner and Trent Boult played the key role in demolishing Bangladesh’s second innings.
Wagner bowled extremely well and finished his superb spell as 14-4-45-5.
Boult captured four wickets at the cost of 52 runs.
Ross Taylor notched up a magnificent 200 in the first innings. He was adjudged the Man of the Match.
