Man to die for double murder in Jajira

A Dhaka court yesterday sentenced a lone accused to death for killing three persons.
Eighth Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge of Dhaka, Farhana Ferdous on Tuesday sentenced Md Al Islam alias Jiban to death for killing Rashida Begum of West Islambagh under Chalkbazar Police Station of the city, her daughter Sima and grand- daughter Banya.
Al Islam is the son-in-law of Rashida Begum.
He was also fined Tk 20,000. After pronouncement of the verdict, Al Islam was sent to the prison.
State prosecutor Majharul Haque expressed satisfaction hearing the verdict. On the other hand the defece lawyer said, the accused did not get justice and they will appeal with the higher court.
The case docket says, Rashida’s younger daughter Sumi was married to Al Islam Jiban, son of one Nurul Haque Sarder of Jajira Police Station in Shariatpur district. Rashida was taking care of Sumi’s children after her death while Islam was against it. He used to go to the residence of Rashida to see his children.
On July 4, 2004, Jiban had exchange of words with Rashida in connection with the children. At one stage Jiban hacked Rashida to death and Rashida’s another daughter Sima and granddaughter Banya tried to oppose him. At this furious Jiban also hacked them to death.
