DSCC’s eviction drive from today

Dhaka South City Corporation’s drive to relocate chemical warehouses from old Dhaka will begin from Thursday.
“The relocation of chemical warehouses will be completed within a month by the city corporation’s task force,” said DSCC Mayor Mohammad Sayeed Khokon at Nagor Bhaban while talking to journalists.
The mayor said, he wants to relocate all hazardous chemical warehouses for the safety of the citizens.
According to DSCC officials, two teams of the taskforce will start eviction drive in the morning around 10:30am from Islambagh and Shahidnagor areas of old Dhaka.
Dr. Mir Mustafizur Rahman, Health Officer of DSCC will lead team-1, at the city’s Islambagh (Ward-29) to evict hazardous chemical warehouses.
Besides, Zunaid Amin, Tax Officer of DSCC will lead team-1 for the same reason in Shahidnagor in Ward-24.
The DSCC mayor also said that his efforts to evict street vendors from pavements of the capital city would continue.
He also vowed of tough action against drug abuse and urged all to get united to eliminate drug peddling from the city.
Earlier on February 20, a devastating inferno spread out in Chawkbazar in old Dhaka which killed more than 70 people, including children and women.
The experts blamed inflammable chemicals behind the fire spreading.
