Schoolgirl commits suicide in city

A teenager girl committed suicide by hanging herself at her residence in Bagicha area of Dhaka’s Shahjahanpur, on Sunday night, demanded family members.
The deceased was identified as Shanta Akhter, 15, student of class-IX. She studied at a school in Khilgaon.
Family sources said that, Shanta locked the room from inside after arriving home in the evening.
She was found hanging with a scarf after breaking the door as there was no response for a long time and calling her, family members added.
She was rescued and taken to Islami Bank Hospital in Shahjahanpur and afterwards shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where on-duty doctor declared her dead around 7pm.
The reason behind the suicide couldn’t be known yet. The body was taken to the DMCH morgue for an autopsy.
Bachchu Mia, Sub-Inspector (SI) of DMCH Police Outpost confirmed the matter to media.
