Eid-ul-Fitr being celebrated

 Eid-ul-Fitr, one of the largest ritual festivals of Muslims, is being celebrated across the country today (Tuesday) amid religious fervour, festivities and enthusiasm. President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina have greeted the countrymen and Muslims across the world on the occasion of Eid. In separate messages, they wished peace, progress, prosperity and contentment for all. In the capital, the main Eid congregation was held at 8.30am at the National Eidgah Maidan, adjacent to the premises of the Supreme Court. Khatib of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque Professor Maulana Mohammad Salah Uddin conducted the Eid jamaat. Besides, Five Eid jamaats were held at the Baitul Muqarram National Mosque – at 7am, 8am, 9 am, 10am and 11am. The national flag was hoisted atop government and non-government office buildings. The main city streets and road islands were also decorated. Television channels and radio stations are telecasting special programmes during the Eid. Special diet are being served in hospitals, jails, government child families, Chotomoni Nibash, centres for persons with disabilities, shelter homes, orphanages, Vagrant Welfare and Destitute Welfare centres. Earlier before the Eid, responding to the attractions of roots, thousands of people left the capital to celebrate the Eid with their near and dear ones at village homes.
