Miseries of RU admission seekers

The admission seekers of Rajshahi University faced manifold problems during the examination as the prices of food have gone up and mess owner took extra money from the applicants centering the arrival of large number admission seekers and guardians on the campus.
Only applicants are allowed in the halls of the university where guardians have to stay outside the halls. Students and admission seekers alleged, around 40 percent price has been increased in meals which is prepared in unhygienic environment in university canteens, cafeteria and stalls.
Md Shaheed, an admission seeker said ” I feel sick by taking food items, especially from different stalls inspite of paying high price to purchase them. Foods are prepared in unhygeienic environment”.
Before the entry test food items which were available at Tk 20 to Tk 40. These items are being sold at Tk 35 to Tk 60 at the central cafeteria, canteens, Chilasila, Tukitaki Chattor, station bazar, Binodpur bazar and various restaurants of the campus, sources said.
Besides the food problem, the accommodation problem has also been increased during the admission test. During a visit in different areas adjacent to the campus area including Binodpur, Kazla, Budhpara, Motihar, Chouddopai, Dhorompur, Meherchondi, and this correspondent saw mess owners are taking extra Tk 200 to 300 for staying per night while a resident student pays only Tk 400 to 750 per month.
Ismail Hossain, a mess owner of Gafur Mention said, Mess owner association of Rajshahi district said us in a press release to receive Tk 200 every student per night.
