EU wants free, fair polls in Bangladesh

The European Union (EU) wants to see free, neutral and transparent election in Bangladesh. Following the inauguration of “Diplomatbangladesh.com” online at a city hotel in Gulshan on Monday evening, the EU Ambassador Rensje Teerink said.
She said, “People of Bangladesh love democracy. They are conscious and have active civil society here. Not only we, but whole world is observing the upcoming election in Bangladesh. We like to say free and neutral election than using the credible, participatory and transparent term. We are eagerly waiting to see such a election.”
The European Union representative said, “I am interested in Bangladesh. I am very happy to be here. Hopefully, the relations of the European Union with Bangladesh will increase further.
She also mentioned that Bangladesh set an example in the world to shelter the Rohingya people at this time.
Besides, she also appreciated Bangladesh’s economic growth, achieving sustainable development targets, and the ability to tackle
climate change. She also highlighted the European Union’s position in the next election.
In the ceremony, Acting British High Commissioner Kanbar Hossein-Bor praised the Bangladesh’s economic development. He said that they are working to strengthen relations between the two countries.
Presided over by BNP’s International Affairs Secretary and Editor of Diplomatic Bangladesh Magazine Asaduzzaman Ripon, representatives of different countries and representatives from different countries of Bangladesh were also present in the ceremony.
