Chef-de-mission of Bangladesh contingent leaves for Glasgow

Chef-de-mission of Bangladesh contingent for the 20th Commonwealth Games Harun-ur-Rashid, also the vice-president of Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA), leaves here for Glasgow Sunday.A 69-member contingent, comprising 30 athletes, 11 team officials, nine contingent officials and 19 other contingent members, will represent Bangladesh in the games to be held in Glasgow, Scotland from July 23 to August 4 in a hope to win medals in shooting, boxing and gymnastics.The first batch of Bangladesh contingent with country’s most prospective shooting team will leave here for Glasgow on Monday (July 14). They will be followed by weightlifting and cycling teams on July 19, swimming, boxing, table tennis and badminton on July 20, and wrestling and athletics teams on July 24.Some 4,500 athletes from 71 commonwealth countries will compete in 17 disciplines of sports at 14 venues in Glasgow and adjoining areas. Bangladesh team will compete in a record 10 disciplines of sports-athletics, badminton, boxing, cycling, gymnastics, table tennis, shooting, swimming, wrestling and weightlifting-in the mega games of Commonwealth countries.
