AKDN representative calls on DU VC

Resident Diplomatic Representative of Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) Munir M Merali called on Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof Dr Md. Akhtaruzzaman at the latter’s office of the university Tuesday. During the meeting, they discussed matters of mutual interest specially the possibilities of undertaking joint collaborative academic and research programmes by the University of Dhaka and the University of Central Asia. Exchanges of teachers, students and researchers between the two universities were also discussed at the meeting. They stressed the need for producing skilled nurses to develop health sector in Bangladesh. AKDN representative expressed his willingness to provide teachers’ and nurses’ training programmes for development of teaching methodology at different Nursing Institutes.
They also discussed the possibilities of establishment of Professional Training Center at DU with the financial support from AKDN. They agreed to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in this regard soon.
The University of Central Asia was established in 2000 under the sponsorship of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) and it has three different campuses in Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic and Tajikistan.
