Call to make jute products popular

The National Jute Day-2018 was observed in the city as elsewhere in the country Tuesday last with a call for making jute products popular among the people.
 Chittagong District Administration and Directorate of Jute jointly chalked out elaborate programmes to mark the day with the theme “Golden Fibre, Golden Country, Jute Goods of Bangladesh”.
A colorful procession was brought out from Chittagong Circuit House premises that paraded some important city roads.
Inaugurating the rally as the chief guest, Additional Deputy Commissioner Habibur Rahman said the government has taken various initiatives, including modernization of the state owned jute mills, to bring back the glorious past of the jute sector.
Later, a discussion was held at Chittagong Circuit House conference room with Additional Deputy Commissioner (ICT and Education) Habibur Rahman in the chair.
Hailing the present government for bringing back the golden past of jute, the speakers called for taking steps to continue multidimensional use of jute goods home and abroad.
Officials of the jute directorate, entrepreneurs, businessmen and people from different professions were also present at the event.
