Addressing the meeting with the leaders of Chittagong Gono Odhikar Forum at his residence on Sunday, former Mayor of Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) and Jatiya Party (JP) leader Mahmudul Islam Chowdhury said the incumbent mayor is thinking that the political leaders and all people of Chittagong are against him.
If he can come out from such types of mentality and trust on people of Chittagong.
He should talk with all political leaders and people before increasing the tax and reassessment of tax.
But, he re-assesses the holding tax by his own method and increased the tax without talking to city dwellers. As a result, the people of Chittagong were compelled to go for movement against the holding taxes, he pointed out.

Despite there was no water logging, no damaged roads or other crisis during his tenure, he never pressured on people to increase the taxes, Chowdhury claimed. He further said, presently, Chittagong city has turned to a big dustbin where the garbage are seen everywhere.
