Absences of officials at Dohazari RHD Division alleged

Dohazari Roads & Highways Department office located near Keranihat under Satkania upazila of South Chittagong beside the Chittagong-Cox’s Bazar Highway is an important govt office which is running with absence of officials and indiscipline since long.
It is alleged from the eyewitnesses that most of the times, officials and employees of this office remain absent.
It is also alleged that the Executive Engineer of Dohazari RHD office was not present in the office for the last one month except presence of a very few days in a week. Meanwhile, the local journalists tried to contact the XEN of Dohazari R&H over the matter of construction of Traffic police box on lands owned by R&H at Keranihat area but due to his absence they failed to contact. Mentionable that a very few staffs of the said office while contacted to know the whereabouts of the XEN, they replied in a irresponsible manner saying ‘Sir will come after 2 hours, or now in meeting in Headoffice etc ‘.
Our correspondent said, a number of local newsmen went round of the said R&H office from early 10 am to 1 pm on Sunday last but no responsible official or employees were traced in the office. The office room of the XEN was also under lock and key sources said. XEN Md.Tofail Miah was also contacted over cellphone but he did not receive.
However, the matter of construction of police box was apprised to higher authority and accordingly concerned XEN has been asked to take necessary actions against the construction but concerned XEN yet to take any official actions against them, sources said. While contacted the Superintending Engineer of Rangamati Zone Engr.Rafiqul Islam told that after sensing the news of construction of police box over R&H’s land , XEN, Dohazari has been ordered to stop the construction work of police. The Supdt.Engineer also annoyed over the absence of officials in Dohazari office and non-compliance of the order of stopping the construction work of police box , sources added. He also said absence of govt official is beyond the purview of the official discipline.
He also vows to take necessary actions against violation of the govt disciplinary rules, and query of the matter , sources said. Sources further said most of the employees of the dohazari office are working in same station for the last 20-25 years and these unscrupulous employees also created familiar relationship with the locals including marriage and some of them permanently staying in these areas through purchasing lands and houses.
Local sources said these unscrupulous employees in connivance with the officials handed over govt lands to locals with fake lease deeds and the eviction drive in Keranihat areas yet to be enforced for the better interest of the unauthorized occupiers. Moreover, a number of staffs were appointed in this office violating the govt rules of employment, locals alleged.
The conscious circles of the area are demanding inquiry of the irregularities of the Dohazari R&H office and the query of the properties of the dishonest officials there since long . The conscious circles also demanding eviction of illegal structures from the areas , sources said.
