Forest robbers on Sunday freed 25 fishermen, who were picked up from the Sundarbans on Friday night.
Coastguard Mongla West Zone Operation Department Staff officer Lieutenant Commander Mohammad Alauddin said the robbers released all the kidnapped fishermen following a drive launched by them.
However, no one was arrested during the drive, he said.
The released fishermen hail from different parts of Mongla upazila.
Earlier, forest robbers kidnapped the 25 fishermen and looted valuables from 12 fishing trawlers in Pashur River in Mongla upazila and at Sonarchar in the Bay of Bengal on Friday night.
The robbers demanded Tk 50,000 to 1 lakh as ransom for each of the fishermen to let them go free unhurt, threatening to kill them if their demand went unmet.
