Dhaka City Chess Team recorded a surprise win as they beat Number 1 seeded team Rasht City of Iran by 2.5-1.5 points in the 5th round games of the Asian Cities Chess Team Championship is now being held at Bhubaneshwar India.
The 5th round game was held on Tuesday.
In 5th round IM Mohammad Minhaz Uddin beat Faghirnavaz Ali, FM Kh. Aminul Islam beat FM Sadeh Shahin and FM Md. Taibur Rahman drew with IM Soozankar A.M. FM Syed Mahfuzur Rahman Emon lost to Tahbaz Arash.
Dhaka city has earned 7 match points and are jointly in 2nd position with Penang City of Malaysia in the points table after 5th round games.
