Minister ignores REHAB plea

bdnews24.com :
The housing minister has said the government will not back away from allowing foreign investment in Bangladesh’s real estate sector, discounting opposition from local realtors.
REHAB leaders urged the housing and public works minister to not allow foreign companies in arguing that it would throw the local businesses into crisis.
Minister Mosharraf Hossain, however, said the move aimed to provide apartments at affordable prices.
On July 30 last year, the ministry signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Malaysia to build 22,000 flats in the capital Dhaka’s Uttara and Kamrangirchar.
