Final round of Independence Cup Kabaddi begins

The final round of Independence Cup Kabaddi competition began today (Sunday) at Shaheed Suhrawardy Indoor Stadium at Mirpur.
Bangladesh Kabaddi Federation (BKF) president and IGP AKM Shahidul Haque formally inaugurated the meet as the chief guest.
On the first day of the competition, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) beat Bangladesh Fire Service & Civil Defence by 50-16 points, Bangladesh Navy defeated Bangladesh Jail by 36-19 points, Bangladesh Army outclassed Moulvibazar district by 69-26 points, Bangladesh Jail overpowered Barisal district by 49-13 points and Bangladesh Police defeated Dinajpur district by 44-22 points when the last report came in this evening.
A total of 10 teams– split into two groups– are taking part in the five-day meet, sponsored by Bashundhora Group and organised by BKF.
The top two teams from each group will qualify for the semi-finals scheduled to be held on April 26 while the final of the competition is slated on April 27.
Participating teams:
Group A – Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), Bangladesh Army, Bangladesh Fire Service & Civil Defence, district phase champion team and third place finishers of district phase team.
Group B – Bangladesh Police, Bangladesh Navy, Bangladesh Air Force (BAF), Bangladesh Jail and runners-up team of district phase..
