Bangladesh Police became champions in the Green Delta Insurance First Division Hockey League when they got walk over against Victoria Sporting Club in the play-off match, which was scheduled to be held at the Moulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium on Saturday.
Earlier, Bangladesh Police and Victoria Sporting Club earned same points in their respective League matches.
Later, the League Committee of Bangladesh Hockey Federation announced that the championship title would be decided in the play-off match, which was scheduled to be held on Saturday.
But Victoria Sporting Club failed to present in the field in due time.
Thus, the League Committee declared that Bangladesh Police are the champions of the Green Delta Insurance First Division Hockey League, while Victoria Sporting Club are the runners-up of the meet.
Then Vice-President of Bangladesh Hockey Federation (BHF) Khaja Rahmatullah handed over the championship trophy to Bangladesh Police on Saturday afternoon. Chairman of the League Committee Mazharul Islam, Secretary of the League Committee Kamrul Islam Kismat and the other officials of BHF were present at the time.
