Three Borohat `militants` killed in blasts: Autopsy

Staff Reporter :
The three found dead in the militant hideout in Moulvibazar’s Borohat were killed by blasts, said an autopsy report.
The autopsy was conducted by a medical team led by Dr Palash, Residence Medical Officer of Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital, said Civil Surgeon Satyakam Charabarty on Sunday afternoon.
The men were found to be in their late thirties and early forties, while the woman was about thirty years old, he said.
The investigation found no bullet wounds on the body. The report suggested bomb explosions led to their death, said Satyakam Charabarty.
The bodies are currently at the hospital morgue under the police custody, he said.
Dr Palash, who headed the autopsy team, said that the woman was wearing a saree and the men were wearing shirts. Bombs strapped to their waists were detonated, blowing apart the lower portions of their bodies.
Earlier, security forces on Friday launched ‘Operation Maximus’ at Borohat militant that ended on Saturday morning.
Meanwhile, police have identified one of the three militants, who had blown himself up along with four children during “Operation Hit Back” at Nasirpur hideout in Moulvibazar.
The militant Lokman Hossain alias Sohel Rana, hailed from Dinajpur’s Ghoraghat, was a Shura member of Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB). After the ban of JMB, he joined the New JMB, police said yesterday.
Lokman had been missing since 2007,” said Ghoraghat police OC Israel Hossain. “He was wanted in a case filed under Anti-Terrorism Act in 2008 with Chapainawabganj’s Shibganj Police Station,” the OC added. Seven tattered bodies were found after the operation on March 30.
