



To mark the day, Chittagong city unit of Bangladesh Awami League (AL) organized a discussion at Zilla Pariad auditorium. AL also held discussions highlighting the significance of the day at different places and upazilas of the district. Former Mayor and City AL President A B M Mohiuddin Chowdhury presided over the meeting while city mayor also City AL General Secretary A Z M Nasir Uddin, Vice Chancellor of Premier University Dr Anupom Sen, AL leaders Mahtab Uddin Chowdhury, Khurshed Alam Sujan, Badiul Alam and Advocate Iftekher Saimul Chowdhury spoke at the discussion meeting held at the Jilla Parisad auditorium this afternoon. Speaking at the meeting, AL leaders said the March 7 was the turning point of country’s independence struggle and the people participated in the War of Liberation inspired by Bangabandhu’s speech.
The Awami League leaders called upon their workers to resist anarchy, violence and conspiracies against the present government by vested quarters for establishing a non-communal and prosperous Bangladesh.Chittagong city, north and south districts units of AL and its different front organizations organized day long programmes in observance of the day.
Different social cultural organizations including Chittagong Press Club (CPC), Chittagong Union of Journalists (CUJ), TV Journalists Association in Chittagong today placed wreaths at the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at CPC premises marking the historic 7th March.
CPC and CUJ also organized a discussion meeting to mark the day. Our CU correspondent said the authority of different educational institutions including Chittagong University, Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology and Chittagong Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (CVASU), University of Science and Technology (Chittagong) USTC and Chittagong College also celebrated historic March 7 holding discussions and playing the record of Bangabandhu’s March 7 speech.
