Bangladesh Mahila Parishad

A human chain organised by Bangladesh Mahila Parishad was held in front of the Jatiya Press Club in the city on Saturday. In the programme the speakers demanded to form a such non-communal and democratic society where the male and female can live with equity. They also demanded exemplary punishment to those involved in making errors in the textbooks. The speakers urged the government to meet its various demands including rewriting of syllabus in the textbooks, reestablishing past syllabus if necessary, take necessary steps to give punishment to anti-liberation forces who are in-service in different ministries and give exemplary punishment to those involved in doing anti-state activities. The human chain was addressed, among others, by the President of the parishad Aysha Khanom, its General Secretary Maleka Banu.Vice-President of the organisation Rekha Chowdhury conducted the event.

Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal

A meeting organised by Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD), Chittagong city, south and north district units was held at the Chittagong Press Club on Saturday. Information Minister and President of JSD Hasanul Haq Inu was present as the chief guest in the programme. While speaking Inu said Khaleda Zia along with her party men were again out politicising the formation of the search committee for selecting election
commissioners.The minister called upon his party leaders and activists to resist Khaleda Zia and BNP, patrons of militancy and war criminals, in order to save the country. Inu said though Khaleda is demanding a neutral election commission and search committee, her main agenda is to appoint an election assisting government to pave the way for coming to power. The minister said Khaleda believes that the search committee will be neutral only if Rajakars are included in the committee. The function was addressed, among others, by JSD central Organising Secretary Jasim Uddin Babu, its central members Taiubur Rahman, Belayet Hossain, JSD Bandarban District unit president Humayun Kabir, Chittagong South district unit president Dr Shuvon Mitro and Chittagong Press Club General Secretary Shuklal Das. JSD Chittagong city unit president Ovik Osman presided over the event.
