Abahani pip MSC 2-1 in derby match of BPL

Abahani Dhaka Limited showed their impressive form as they consolidated their position at the top of the points table of JB Bangladesh Premier League with an important 2-1 win over arch rivals Dhaka Mohammedan at the Sheikh Fazlul Huq Moni Stadium, Gopalganj on Tuesday.
In front of a vociferous crowd, Mohammedan defenders kept the Abahani forwards at bay and forced their traditional rivals Abahani to finished the first half at a barren(0-0).
Abahani came back strongly in the second half and pressed hard. Mohammedan’s defense which looked difficult to penetrate in the first half, finally gave in as Abahani’s English forward Lee Tuck broke the deadlock in the 55th minute with fine goal.
Despite leading 1-0 Abahani’s forwards remained in hunt for further goals and their perseverance finally paid rich dividend as Sunday Chizoba, the prolific Nigerian scorer of All Blues struck the crucial second goal in the 81st minute.
As Abahani defense went on to a relaxed mood, Povemi of Dhaka Mohammedan scored the consolation goal three minutes into the stoppage time to save his side from total embarrassment.
The win put Abahani atop of table with 42 points from 18 matches while Mohammedan had to remain on their previous 17 from the same number of matches.
