Export earnings up by 4.12 pc

The export earnings during last 4 months (July-October) of the 2016-17 fiscal was 8,079 million US dollars against the target of 37 billion US dollars which is 4.12% more than the target of 4 months against the corresponding period of immediate last fiscal(2015-16).
This was disclosed at a seminar held at Export Promotion Bureau, Chittagong office conference hall . EPB, Chittagong organized the seminar on subject ‘Non-Tariff Barriers, Anti Dumping Duty & Countervailing Meaures” on Tuesday morning with Md. Alamgir Siddiqui, Director of EPB, Chittagong in the chair. Director of EPB Chitagong Office Md. Alamgir Siddiqui told that 31.20 billion US dollar earned from exports during 2014-15 fiscal against the target of 33.20 billion dollars and GDP was 3.55 %.
But the export earnings in 2015-16 fiscal was 34.25 billion dollars against the target of 33.50 billion dollars with GDP of 9.72 % .
He hoped the target of the current fiscal will be fulfilled.
Among others, Deputy Director of EPB Md. Rahamatullah, Director of CCCI Rekha Alam chowdhury, Senior joint secretary of BKMEA Altafuddin, Deputy Secretary of BGMEA, Chittagong Chapter AKM Moinuddin, Deputy Director of Bangladesh Bank Sabera Sultana, and a number of senior Bank officials spoke on the occasion.
Some 61 representatives from different govt offices, autonomous bodies, banks, insurance and exporters participated the seminar. In second session of the seminar Resource person Md. Mashiul Alam elaborately discussed the matters of the seminar through power point projections, sources said.
