There will be no refugees if Assad is not protected but ended

UN MEMBER-STATES adopted a non-binding political declaration on Monday to tackle the biggest refugee crisis since Second World War amid dire warnings about rising xenophobia in Europe and the collapse of countries bordering war-shattered Syria. According to media report, world governments adopted New York declaration pledging to uphold the rights of refugees, help them to resettle and ensure that they have access to education and jobs. The firstever UN Summit on Refugees and Migrants kicked off after a week of high-level diplomacy when the world leaders are taking part in the UN Annual General Assembly meeting. The NY summit was dominated this year by the conflict in Syria. The crude reality of today is, a record-breaking 65 million people are on the move worldwide, fleeing from wars such as the carnage in Syria, repression and poverty, including 21 million refugees competing for too few resettlement opportunities. The war in Syria alone, now in its sixth year, has driven nearly nine million people from their homes, while an additional four million have fled to neighbouring countries and are making the perilous journey to Europe.

Media report says, speaking at the summit opening session UN Human Rights Chief insisted that the present day refugee crisis stemmed from the world’s failure to end the war in Syria. We agree with his remark that the defenders of what is right and good are being out-flanked in too many countries by race-baiting bigots, who seek to gain or retain power by wielding prejudice and deceit at the expense of those most vulnerable. Unfortunately, this phenomenon is not limited only to be so-called third world countries. Foul-play, in the name of national interest or strategic interest by the champions of human rights, has created volatile situation in various parts of the world and innocent people are the worst sufferers of these, being compelled to sacrifice almost everything only to survive.

The massacre of Syrian people is continuing as a result of big power politics. It is most shocking that Iran is also collaborating with Russia in the killing of Syrians and destroying the country itself just because Russia jointly with Iran is thinking its geo-political influence in the war. Human consideration has no place with them.
America is a great nation for its commitment to human rights and value of life. Russia is only a great power. America and the Western alliance have to be bold in saving lives and tragic fate of Syrian refugees. The human crisis for Syrian refugees is not their own creation. They will be too happy to go back to their country.
