Dhaka Abahani Ltd toppled Chittagong Abahani Ltd in the JB Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football beating Arambagh KS by 2-0 goals in the 6th round match at the Bangabandhu National Stadium here on Saturday.
With the day’s feat, Dhaka Abahani shared the top slot in the 12-team league with unbeaten record alongside Muktijoddha SKC, Rahmatganj MFS and Sheikh Jamal DC securing 12 from six matches while Arambagh KS remained at 7th place with six points from as many matches.
But in goal difference Dhaka Abahani are in the 4th place with 4 plus goals after Muktijoddha (7 plus), Rahmatagnj (6 plus) and Sheikh Jamal (5 plus). Ctg Abahani went down to the 5th slot with eleven points from six outings,
In the day’s match, Nigerian forward Sunday Chizoba scored the both the goals for the sky-blue Dhanmondi outfit Abahani, one in each half. Nigerian forward Sunday Chizoba opened the Abahani account in te very 4th minute from a penalty (1-0).
Abahani got the spot when Cameroonian midfielder of Arambagh Yoko Samnick brought down onrushing Abahani forward Sunday Chizoba in the danger zone. Sunday Chizoba converted the spot kick by his 2nd attempt from a rebounder as his first attempt was fisted by goalie Mitul Hasan.
Sunday Chizoba sealed the fate of the match scoring his 2nd goals for Abahani in the 85th minute by a left footed placing shot beating his marker, off a Lee Tuck pass (2-0).
Earlier, Arambagh managed a good chance but forward Sajidur Rahman Sajid’s placing shot went wide off a low cross of defender Monsur Amin.
Arambagh was reduced to 10-man when their midfielder Saddam Hossain got marching order in the 45th minute after receiving direct red card.
Arambagh’s Nigerian forward Kester Akon squandered a chance in the 66th minute as his shot travelled over the crosspiece in one to one situation with Abahani goalie Shahidul Alam Sohel.
