



Word Health Day observed in Kisoreganj

The World Health Day was observed in Kishoreganj on Monday as else where across the country . The theme of this year was- Vectore-borne diseases. Civil Surgeon office of Kishoreganj supported by World Health Organization organised a discussion on Vector-Borne diseases: Protect yourself held at Kishoreganj 250- bed Hospital conference hall on Monday noon. Civil Surjeon Dr. Mrinal Kanti Pandit presided over the discussion meeting while ADC (Gen Md. Jamil Ahamed was attended as chief guest. It was addressed among others by Deputy Civil Surjeon Dr. Muklesur Rahman, ASP (Sadar) Md. Sahansha, Heart Specilist Dr. Abu Taher, Asstt Profesor of Medicine Nazmul Huda, Sadar Health Administrator Dr. Rajia Sultana, Child Specialist Dr. Md. Mohasin, Dist. Health Education officer Bazlur Rahman and R.M.O Dr. Mohammad Ali. A colourfull rally was brought out in the town marking the Day.
Anti-Corruption Week in Gopalganj

Seven-day long Anti-Corruption Week has began in Gopalganj from on Wednesday to create awareness about corruption among the people. Gopalganj district Corruption Resistance Committee organised the programme. Rally, discussion meeting. cultural function. display and documentary film were included the programme began .On the occasion a discussion meeting was held at Swarnakali High School in Gopalganj city yesterday (Saturday). Earlier brought out a colourful rally & chanting slogan and the rally paraded main roads in the city. Md. Khalilur Rahman. DC. Gopalganj and Malay Kumar Saha. Assistant Director (A.D), Anti-Corruption Commission. Faridpur spoken at a discussion meeting as the chief & special guests respectively. Md. Enamul Kabir, President District Anti-Corruption Resistance Committee, Gopalganj presided over the discussion meeting. Among others Md Atiar Rasul, former Acting Principal of Bangabandhu University College, Gopalganj, Nasima Akter, teacher. Swarnakali High School, Gopalganj, Rabindranath Adhikari, Gopalganj Correspondent. Dainik Sangbad were present and spoken on the occasion. Md. Austami Snan held at Chilmari Ghat in Kurigram

The day-long traditional Annual Astami Snan and a religious bathing festival of Hindu Community was held at Chilmari near Jorgach Ghat of Brahmaputra river at Chilmari Upazila of Kurigram district on Monday from the early morning with due respect and solemnity.More than two lakh of Hindu devotees including male, female and children from many parts of the country as well as India arrived here by buses, trucks, private car, rickshaw and mechanized boats.However, the devotees who came here took holy bath in the Bramaputra river in commemoration of saint Parshuram who had bath on this eighth day of Lunar month in the river Bramaputra and freed himself from sin as he killed his mother Renuka Debi by an axe at the order of his father Jamadagni according to Hindu belief. Consequently the Hindu community used to come here in this day to free themselves from sin in the Bangla month of Chaitra every year.General Secretary of Bangladesh Puja Utjapon Parishad of Chilmari Branch Dr. Birendra Nath Sarker said that Hindu devotees from many parts of the country including India and China came to the Chilmari Austimi Snan.
