DU’s 48th convocation today

The Dhaka University is going to organise its 48th convocation today (Monday) with mass festivity on the campus.
President Abdul Hamid Advocate, who is also chancellor of the university, will preside over the ceremony while Professor Rolf Heuer, Director General of the European Organisation for Nuclear Research (CERN), will attend the function as the convocation speaker. Rolf Heuer will also be honoured with the Doctor of Science degree.
Vice-Chancellor of the university Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique told The New Nation that all the preparations for holding the convocation had been completed. The programme will begin in the central playground of the university at 12:00 noon. The main gate of the venue will remain open for participants and invited guests from 9:00am.
Over 8,312 graduates will be conferred with degrees at the convocation ceremony.
Meanwhile, the DU authorities had completed distribution of convocation gowns and also organised a rehearsal for convocation on Sunday afternoon at Curzon Hall ground
DU Proctor Amzad Ali said that proper security measures have been taken to make the programme successful.
Convocation attendants have been asked not to bring mobile phones, cameras and hand bag with them.
