BSMRMU, BMA organize seminar on Maritime Governance

Faculty of Maritime Governance and Policy’ of the country’s first ever specialized university, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Maritime University (BSMRMU) and its sole affiliated institution Bangladesh Marine Academy (BMA) organized a seminar titled “Maritime Governance: Challenges to Maritime Community” at Chittagong Club recently.
Vice-Chancellor of BSMR Maritime University Rear Admiral ASM Abdul Baten graced the occasion as chief guest. Former Director General of Department of Shipping, AKM Shafiqullah presented the keynote paper in the seminar. Representatives from maritime related organizations such as Bangladesh Navy, Coast Guard, Chittagong and Mongla Port Authorities, Shipping Corporations, Shipyards, Private Marine Academies etc. were present and participated in the seminar. Apart from the keynote paper, five speakers from Bangladesh Navy, Coast Guard and Marine Academy presented their research papers in the seminar.
In the open forum, the audiences expressed their opinions spontaneously on various contemporary maritime issues. Everyone expressed that if all the maritime stakeholders work together towards better maritime governance in our sea areas, the exploration and exploitation of maritime resources will be enhanced and the country will stride forward towards ‘Blue Economy’ with a faster pace.
