Polls boycott , ballot papers snatching mark UZ polls

BNP candidate for Upazila Chairman in Anowara of Chittagong Jalaluddin Ahmed has declared to boycott the election yesterday.
At the same time he demanded suspension of vote casting with reelection in this upazila, a sources of Anowara said.
BNP candidate declared boycotting election at a pres conference held at Kalabibir Dighi election office premises at about 2 pm.
Following the forcefully outing of BNP agent from vote center by Awami activists, false vote casting, ballot hijack etc, he declared to boycott the election .
The press conference was told that the Awami supporters belong to AL candidate Towhidul Hoque occupied 27 centres and bared to enter into centre by BNP agents, he compelled to boycott election. BNP candidate claimed the Asstt returning officer and the presiding officers did not take any actions against the anarchy of the Awami cadres. BNP c andiate Jalaluddin demanded reelection in this upazila abrogating the present election, sources said.
Meanwhile, ballot boxes of upazila election in Satkania upazila were snatched away by the activitists of the ruling party following the clash between two rival groups at a polling centre in Satkania.
Polling was stopped after the scuffle at the Choto Hatia Hazi Laxmi Bibir Madrasa of Sonakia Union at 10am yesterday. The miscreants decamped with five of the six ballot boxes, Presiding Officer Belal Mohammad Chowdhury told the mediamen.There was no voting after that, he said.
“There are three policemen and 12 Ansars here,” said Jyotirmoy Chakma, a policeman on duty at the centre. One group of supporters open fired when another group entered the centre.
We also fired some rounds. Additional police are here after the incident,” said Chakma.Upazila Executive Officer Shariful Islam said he had heard of the matter but was awaiting reports. Latest reports said 8 ballot boxes of Demsha union centre of Satkania were burnt by the miscreants and beat the polling officer of the centre. The incident occurred at Demsha Primary School centre at about 2.30 pm sources said.
Besides, there are allegations of occupying 9 vote centres in Rangunia upazila by the ruling party activisits , BNP candidate alleged. On the other hand, scuffle between the supporters of BNP candidate and Awami League candidate occurred in Fatikchari upazila area and learnt about hijacking of one ballot box .
A correspondent from Raozan upazila said some stray incidents occurred in some vote centres in Raozan between the supporters of the ruling partymen and main opposition BNP activists.
