Station masters threaten to shut countrywide train service

Station masters of East Zone Railway threatens to shut the rail communications across the country demanding stoppage of recruitment process of Asstt .Station Master posts after degrading the pay scale immediately .
 This was disclosed by the president of Bangladesh Railway Station Master & Employees Union Md. Moklesur Rahman at a press conference in Chittagong Press Club conference hall yesterday morning.
 The press meet demanded recruitment in different vacant posts including Station Masters, cancellation of discriminatory employment notice for ASM , upgradation of Station Master into 2nd class status and the overall development of the railway.
President of the trade union Moklesur Rahman said unless the new employment notice is published for appointment of ASM on or before February 25 next suspending the ongoing recruitment process , the rail communications across the country will remain suspended as well as ongoing recruitment process will be stopped through legal process.
 The press meet was also told that out of the 340 stations, 140 remained close across the country lack of manpower .
Among others, General secretary of the trade union SN Bhattachairya, executive president Md. Hossain Majumder, Chittagong Divisional president Showkat Ali Chowdhury, General Secretary Md. Nezamuddin, Convenor of Dhaka Division Moron Chandra Das, Member Secretary Belayet Hossain, Joint Secretary of Lalmonirhat Division Md. Jahed Hossain were present in it, trade union sources said.
