Plantation of fruit trees for national interest stressed

Jhenaidah Correspondent :”The people of our country are lucky enough as the land of the country is most fertile for crop production. The fruits available in our country could help ensure nutrition demand fulfillment which also can reduce the fruit import against huge foreign currency every year”, said the secretary of the ministry of agriculture Shymal Kanti Ghosh.The secretary urged the farmers to bring more and more lands under indigenous varieties of fruits which have been decaying faster.Shymal Kanti Ghosh was speaking as chief guest at Raicharan Tarinicharan Degree College ground following a seminar on fruit trees management. Department of agriculture extension (DAE) in Jhenaidah had arranged the seminar on Saturday evening.Presided over by the additional director of DAE in Jessore region Khairul Abrar, Director General of DAE Hamidur Rahman, Bangladesh Agriculture Research Council (BARC) Chairman Abul Kalam Azad and Executive Director of Cotton Development Board (CDB) Farid Uddin attended as special guests.The speakers said, to protect the crops and popularize the agriculture technologies, various agricultural departments have been working in the fields.
