Soumya ruled out, Kayes in for Zimbabwe series
Bangladesh top order left-hand batsman and consistent performer Soumya Sarkar has been ruled out from ODI and T20I series against Zimbabwe due to a left side internal muscle injury.
Opening batsman Imrul Kayes has been called to replace Soumya in the squad for the first two ODIs to be held at She-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on November 07 and 09.
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) senior physician Debashis Chowdhury said, “An MRI report confirmed a left side strain of this player, following a complained of discomfort while bowling during practice on Tuesday.
“Such injuries take around 2 to 3 weeks to recover and therefore he will miss the matches against Zimbabwe, the physician continued.
“Soumya will continue his rehab under the BCB’s medical team as soon as the pain subsides,” Debashis added.
